On March 13, 2017, RRM Design Group hosted an APA panel discussion on the topic of “The Future of Mobility.”

In less than twenty years, our transportation systems will undergo disruptive and transformative changes. Some of these changes will be great for sustainability and personal mobility. Some may inadvertently increase driving or induce sprawl. The Future of Mobility presentation and discussion, held at RRM Design Group in San Luis Obispo, started a dialogue regarding the future of transportation – the possibilities, realities, hidden impacts, and considerations – and how we (those shaping the built environment, i.e. planners, engineers, etc.) can be proactive in shaping the changes to support community objectives.

Presenters Michael Boswell and William Riggs, with California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and Debs Schrimmer with Lyft, presented introductory thoughts, opening the discussion to the future of transportation and its effects on the built environment and necessary human behavior changes.

This event was presented by the Central Coast Section of the American Planning Association (APA).
