Mission Cove
The City of Oceanside initially retained RRM to develop a Vision and Strategic Plan for an affordable housing project with a mixed-use component on a City-owned, 14-acre site. Key considerations included community engagement, compatibility with the surrounding neighborhood, and connectivity to the nearby historic San Luis Rey Mission District. RRM facilitated three public community design workshops and crafted a preferred concept plan based upon direct input received. The resulting Vision and Strategic Plan addressed land uses, amenities, design criteria including universal design, and implementing actions, and was unanimously supported by the City’s Housing Commission and adopted by the City Council. Subsequently, RRM was retained by affordable housing developer National Community Renaissance, in partnership with the City of Oceanside, to provide architectural services to implement the project.
