The City of Newport Beach won a 2015 Award of Merit in Economic Planning and Development for the Balboa Village Revitalization Program from the Orange Section of the American Planning Association (OC APA).
The City of Newport Beach hired RRM Design Group to assist with a three-pronged revitalization effort for Balboa Village. Work product included updating the Balboa Village Design Guidelines (adopted in 2002), creating conceptual streetscape improvement plans for the primary Village streets, and developing a wayfinding sign program (provided by Graphic Solutions). The project was completed in six months, included six public meetings, was unanimously approved by City Council, and came in on time and under budget.
