Solomon Hills Specific Plan
RRM planning, architecture, and civil engineering teams had the privilege of designing the land plan and accompanying specific plan and vesting tentative tract map for the new Solomon Hills community. Located in the heart of California’s Central Coast, Solomon Hills is planned as a premier residential community that features up to 4,000 homes with a mix of housing types, 70% of which are targeted towards working families and first-time buyers. Residential neighborhoods are within walking or biking distance to shops, restaurants, a TK-8 school, and the car-free village main street. Retail and commercial opportunities, along with a work campus designed for large employers and local businesses, will support up to 2,000 new jobs.
The plan emphasizes alternative modes of transit, parks and open spaces, active lifestyle opportunities, and a strong connection to the natural environment. Over two thirds of the project area is set aside as open space, and includes a vast network of trails, bikeways, parks, and recreational amenities that encourage outdoor activities and foster an overall sense of community.
With a commitment to achieve carbon-neutrality at build out, the plan emphasizes sustainability through the integration of contemporary environmental practices that create energy-efficient homes, utilize low-water and reclaimed-water technologies, provide for an all-electric community with limited gas use, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions through intentional design.
